A great spring break!
This past Monday&Tuesday, we drove to Portland for a night. A visit to the "Nob Hill" area of Portland for shopping and lunch, then to Powell's Books (of course) Then we checked into the Kennedy School, a McMenamin's Hotel that was built from an old elementary school. We met up with brother Dan and his friend Zoe for dinner at the hotel restaurant, and had a woonderful time getting to know her.
Next morning, we shopped some more, tried a little ice skating at the Lloyd Center Mall, then had a great time at the Portland Children's Museum. Lots of hands on stuff for the kids to enjoy. There wasa large exhibit celebrating "Sesame Street" that we all enjoyed-the grown ups with nostalgia, the kids with fun.
Our room was a converted classroom, still with chalkboards and cloakroom.
If you're ever in Portland, stop in here for a night or just a visit-you'll love it!! We sure did!
A view of the front of the Kennedy School
Stop and smell the... (I don't remember what these were called, but they sure were pretty!)

Trying her hand at make-up-as a cat, of course!
"On Sesame Street" at the Portland Children's Museum
An old logging train was one of this boy's favorite things to see!
The kids enjoyed getting inside the train's cab
Pinewood Derby
Here are a few photos from this years Pinewood Derby. I didn't make one for myself, but I will next year. Our Cub Scout had a lot of fun designing, sanding, painting, and detailing this, with a lottle help from mom on the finer paintwork.
Set for the next heat.
