Band picnic

These photos were taken by one of my co-workers at the band picnic last week. He brought along his 1 month old red tail boa, and our little girl was enthralled with it! She wanted to hold it constantly, and the snake only got a break when Taylor told her that "Princess is really tired, and wants to take a little nap." This would satisfy her for a while, then she'd be tugging on Taylor's shirt, "Is Princess awake yet?" It was a very calm animal, and willing to be held.

She was actually rather selfish-didn't want to share the snake! Posted by Picasa

Sunriver pictures

The following are a few pictures from the trip Martha and the kids took down to Sunriver, Oregon, from 6-13 August. I was unable to join them, due to a very busy summer schedule. You can see that they had a lot of fun!

Photos

These are a few pictures I took when we went to the big air show at Mchord Air Force Base, near Tacoma, on 31 July. It was a hot, sunny day, and perfect flying weather. My big boy was well behaved, and loved every minute of it. We saw lots of different aircraft, from little single seaters up to HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE transport planes. The highlight was a terrific performance by the Air Force Thunderbirds.

Sunday musings

Welcome back to my blog!
We've enjoyed a busy week this past, and I wanted to update you on our goings on.
The band has been quite busy this past week. A Change of Command up at NAS Whidbey on Thursday, a Change of Command (new Navy Region Northwest admiral-our boss) over in Everett on Friday followed immediately by a change of command/disestablishment/establishmet AND retirement over here at Bangor (this was a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG ceremony) and then a parade in Shoreline yesterday.
Last night, Martha and I went to C.I. Shenanigans in Tacoma for dinner-fabulous! Salmon roll appetizers, roasted swordfish with almonds, she had the baked clams, then we shared a complimentary (we told our waitress we were celebrating her birthday) Mile-High Mud pie for desert. Incredible! Then to Jazzbones for a great show by the Paperboys, a terrific Celtric rock band from Canada. http://www.paperboys.com/index.htm
We first learned about the group while we were visiting the Tsilan Winery at Lake Chelan-they had a promo CD playing there, and were performing the next night at the winery. We liked the sound of the CD, and wanted to check out their show.
While were on our date, Devita, who also works at the day care, took care of our little darlings. She has done a wonderful job babysitting the children, and they both really like her. She has a bright red Ford Focus, so she is ESPECIALLY cool in my son's eyes!
Other news-Martha is done with the union work she has been doing all year--they finally FINALLY finalized a contract for the Bremerton teacher's union for this coming year. The teachers will vote on it on the 6th, and I think it will pass.
Another busy week ahead-Martha has numerous meetings, trainig sessions, and such. I have a few rehearsals, a ceremony or two, another parade next Saturday over in Monroe.
Talk to you later! I'll post some pictures from their trip down to Sunriver really soon.
We went blackberry picking this afternoon-not too bad, kids got a little bored after a while. Not a very big haul. I may go by myself again tomorrow...
