California Dreamin...

Here we are, halfway through our trip here to California, and I haven't kept any of you up to date!!
I don't have a way to enter pictures here, but I will enter a lot of pictures in a few days, after we get back home.
Here is a little run down of our vacation here in CA so far...
Day one-arrived at the airport with time to spare. Along the way, we realized neither of us had packed the cameras-rats! There was a short delay checking in at the ticket counter-apparently, there is an individual on TSA's "no fly list" with the same last name as us!! What a hoot, but our ID's got us through ok.
Parents met us at the airport, then whisked into Oakland to a great ice cream parlour for lunch-KILLER desserts. A short visit to grandma in Piedmont, and we're borrowing her car for the duration.
Here in Lafayette, a great dinner, then opening of Christmas presents.

Day two-a relaxing day in town, then we left the kids with grandma and grandpa, and went into the great Metropolis of San Francisco, just like old times. We went to a Lush on Union street, Green Apple Books on Clement Street, then met some old friends for dinner at a great Morroccan restaurant not too far from our old apartment in the Richmond district. I even danced with the belly dancer... (patience, my friends-as I said, pictures will be along soon!-)
After that, we enjoyed a couple Irish Coffees at the Buena Vista, http://www.thebuenavista.com/index2.html another one of our favrite places (where Irish Coffees were introduced to America) Here's one additional coool hilight of our evening-All four stops that evening, we found great parking spots EVERY TIME!!! I seem to remember SF as being an aweful place for parking.

Day Three-a VERY busy day-all of us went into the city this time. I took a tour of the Anchor Steam Brewery http://www.anchorbrewing.com/ and totally enjoyed it. I'd been wanting to take a tour of that place for a long time. The rest of the family bopped around Golden Gate Park. Then, a visit to the historic Ferry Building in San Francisco, as well as a short jaunt on the 'F' line electric trolley along the Embarcadero to Fisherman's Wharf. We finished off our visit with a quick stop at Ghiardellli Chocolate.

Day Four-Up a little earlier to catch an Amtrak from Martinez to Sacramento. The kids loved it! Our primary reason for travelling there-the California State Railroad Museum. http://www.csrmf.org/ It was INCREDIBLE!!! A huge museum, packed with all sorts of railroad exhibits, including a number of locomotives-steam and diesel, and cars. We were there for several hours, and it was well worth the visit.
After thet, we wandered around old town Sacramento for a bit, had lunch, got drenched in the heavy downpour, and rode the Amtrak back to Martinez-most of us slept on the way!

About our visit-I ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat-I love visiting this area!

Christmas morning

Good morning (afternoon) and a wonderful and blessed Christmas to all of you!! I pray that this holy day finds you well and safe, as we think about the blessed Savior's birth.

Here are a few shots I took this morning, couldn't wait to post them. The third one down is my favorite-an action shot, he is amazingly ecstatic as he picks up the toy he's been patiently waiting for weeks to receive-Travis Tanker, the newest Chevron Car creation. He loves it!!

More Santa pictures!

Santa also paid a visit to our Navy Band concert at Bremerton High School Performing Arts Center last Wednesday night. The old fellow was pleased to be photographed with us!

Christmas party

Here are a few pictures from the band's Christmas party. Dave, Kim, Selina and I did a great job setting up the church fellowship hall. Most of the band showed up, and there were a good number of kids, too. Senior Chief graciously stood in as Santa, and was VERY popular with the kids! Our patient little boy received "The Polar Express" on DVD, and herself received several fun sticker books of My Little Pony and Cinderella.

A very good boy.

Snow day

These are a few pictures I took this afternoon. The snow began to fall in big, fluffy flakes around noon, and it's still coming down! I picked up the kids from school and we had a lot of fun out in our yard.
The last picture in this group is actually from the Holiday Fair at the Junior High way back on the 19th of November. Look at our little one-she had her face done up as a cat at the face painting booth!
